Why Outdoor Musical Instruments are the Perfect Fit For Children's Museums
With a clear message of fun and learning for all, Children’s museums are unique places that bring children, families, and communities together, provide memorable, immersive learning experiences, provoke the imagination, introduce unknown worlds and subject matters, and offer unique environments for quality time with family.
Incorporating various activities that contribute to children's mental, physical, affective, and social development, we know museum educators strive to develop programs and activities that address literacy, performing arts, science and math, visual arts, cultures, and health and wellness. Music ignites all areas of child development: intellectual, social and emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and the mind work together and helps children develop important skills essential for success in life, such as concentration, confidence, and self-esteem.
Young children learn through play, experimentation, and listening to the grownups they love. Outdoor musical instruments, with their emphasis on family and multi-generational participation, enable caregivers to set an example as enthusiastic participators in music activities, which can help establish a child on the road to a lifelong love of music. Through musical play, you teach a child the power and value of music. The result will be joyful, musical children, enhanced family relationships, and a strong musical community.
