C Major Pentatonic (C4-C6)
The Duo is a distinctive instrument with an ergonomic curved design. Accessible from both sides, this instrument can be enjoyed by up to four players. Tuned to the pentatonic scale, the left and right-hand sides are mirrored, and the scale is C-major, spanning 2 octaves from C4 to C6.
Duo [n pl duos, dui] a. a pair of performers
The Duo is built as standard with half aluminum notes and half GRP notes in the color of purple-heart wood. Each of these materials gives a distinct sound when played: the aluminum will produce a bright, clear tone when struck, while the GRP is fast and punchy.
The notes of the Duo have no wires or strings. They are individually and securely attached to a high-density polyethylene backboard below, which sits on black anodized aluminum resonators, offering maximum vibration with incredible resonance and durability. Each resonator is individually capped with a polyurethane rain baffle. Finally, stainless steel security fixings deter vandalism and prevent the theft or removal of the instrument.
If the half-and-half split is not for you, the Duo is available on request with all aluminum or GRP notes.
The curvy design is about more than just looking stylish. The wave makes it easier for individuals with a limited range of movement or players in wheelchairs to reach all the notes. Eye contact can present difficulty for some people living on the autistic spectrum, with many only able to process one sensory system at a time. The Duo was designed to allow two people to interact and make music together without the need to look directly at each other, allowing them to concentrate entirely on the auditory process comfortably and in their own space.
Playing the Duo is effortless, so friends, siblings, classmates, colleagues, or even strangers can come together, explore with rhythm, and make great music!
