Ground Instruments

We are excited to announce that Percussion Play has added 'Ground Instruments' to its product line. These instruments are installed at ground level and offer a one-of-a-kind and enjoyable experience for those passing by. They are an ideal addition to public spaces such as walkways, plazas, sensory paths, cycleways, and play areas.

The 'Ground Instruments' are activated by the weight of individuals walking, jumping, dancing, or wheeling across their sturdy non-slip surface, creating a fun and engaging experience for people of all ages. Not only do they add life to public spaces, but they also encourage connections across generations. Both children and adults can enjoy playing together and composing their own music in the great outdoors. These Floor Pianos, Stepping Stones, and Harmony Hop are made of heavy-duty stainless steel, which makes them durable and long-lasting. They are installed flush to the ground and are perfect for schools, inclusive parks, and other public areas.
One of our all-time favorite movies is the 1988 Tom Hanks film 'Big'. The movie tells the story of a boy who finds himself trapped in an adult's body and ends up working in a toy business. The scene that left an indelible mark on us is the one where Hanks and Robert Loggia play 'Chopsticks' on a giant electronic keyboard in a toy store. It was a moment of pure fun and happiness that got us thinking about how wonderful it would be to design a product that could replicate this experience outside. We thought about creating a cross-generational, all-inclusive, wheelchair-accessible giant piano for parks, playgrounds, and trails. This would give families and friends the opportunity to produce some great tunes together and make happy memories in the great outdoors!

The Stepping Stones utilize the same technology as our Floor Pianos. However, instead of individual notes, each "note" on the Stepping Stones contains a major or minor triad chord of three bells. This allows children to have an enjoyable time discovering each bell by stepping on different spots or jumping with both feet to play the chord.

Harmony Hop is an exciting and interactive method for children to learn about music while also enhancing their gross motor skills. It transforms the well-known game of hopscotch into a melodious adventure, which makes it easy for kids to grasp the concepts of music.
