Percussion Play Wins King’s Award for Enterprise 2024

Percussion Play has achieved two major milestones this month: winning the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade 2024 and relocating to a state-of-the-art production facility and offices.

King’s Award for Enterprise - International Trade 2024

The company has made a significant impact with its outdoor musical instruments, increasing international sales by over 70% in just three years. Today, nearly 90% of its products are exported, reaching communities around the world. This achievement has earned Percussion Play the King’s Award for Enterprise 2024 in the category of International Trade, recognizing outstanding growth in overseas sales.

Last week, the company was informed that His Majesty the King had approved the Prime Minister’s recommendation, acknowledging its sustained international success over the past three years.

International Growth and Global Reach

The rising demand for Percussion Play’s handcrafted, tuned instruments has led to a strong global presence, with clients and distributors in more than 50 countries. Key markets include the USA, Australia, Denmark, France, and Lithuania, reflecting the widespread appeal of outdoor musical instruments across diverse sectors including education, healthcare, and public spaces. This marks the company’s second Royal recognition, following the Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2021.

New Headquarters at Dunsbury Park, Hampshire

Alongside this achievement, Percussion Play has relocated to a new purpose-built facility at Dunsbury Park, an award-winning business park in Hampshire. The move has nearly tripled office and production space, supporting continued business growth and increased demand. Located just eight miles north of Portsmouth, the site also benefits from Freeport status, offering incentives to support economic expansion and job creation.

Sustainable Design and Future Growth

The new two-storey office and workshop incorporate a range of eco-friendly features designed to reduce environmental impact. These include:

  • Rainwater harvesting
  • Solar thermal heating
  • EV charging points
  • Solar panels

The building has achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and EPC Class A certification, providing a sustainable and high-quality working environment for employees.

Team Recognition and Industry Impact

Managing Director and Co-Founder Jody Ashfield commented: *“It’s been a busy time for us at Percussion Play, and we are thrilled to celebrate our King’s Award in our new home. It’s an honor to have our commercial success recognized by the highest award available to a UK business.”
