Percussion Play Introduces New Grand and Baby Floor Pianos

Percussion Play is excited to announce the introduction of two new products - the Grand Floor Piano and Baby Floor Piano, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of the movie “Big.”

High energy and engaging, these fully chromatic mechanical Floor Pianos are engineered to perform in all environments. With 13 to 25 notes, kids and adults alike will be able to compose their own music as they jump, run or dance along the notes.

Made of heavy-duty stainless-steel construction, these Floor Pianos are installed flush to the ground and work equally well in schools, parks, and other public spaces.

Asked what inspired the introduction of the new Outdoor Floor Pianos, Robin Ashfield, Sales & Marketing Director for Percussion Play responded, "One of my all-time favorite movies is the 1988 Tom Hanks film 'Big', the story of a boy trapped in an adult’s body who ends up working in a toy business. The scene that left an indelible mark is Hanks and Robert Loggia playing “Chopsticks” on a giant electronic keyboard in a toy store. What was captured was a moment of pure fun and happiness and got me thinking how wonderful it would be to be able to design a product that could replicate this outside. A cross-generational, all inclusive, wheelchair accessible giant piano for parks, playgrounds and trails giving families and friends the opportunity to produce some great tunes together and happy memories all in the great outdoors!"

Baby Floor Piano
Floor Pianos offer “Big” Fun These interactive and engaging pianos allow “big” fun to be had outdoors in the park, playground or just about anywhere outdoors where families and friends get together to have fun. Players simply need to step on or wheel over the notes to produce some great sounds, that can be played solo or with friends. The sonorous subsurface bells will create clear distinctive tones beneath one’s feet.

Musical instruments on the playground are a growing trend. Percussion Play’s outdoor musical instruments are durable, sustainable, and can be installed to cope with all extremes of weather making them ideal for parks, playgrounds and other public spaces.

Robin Ashfield said, “To me, the most exciting thing is that outdoor musical instruments are truly inter-generational and all-inclusive, creating opportunities all over the world for kids and adults to play creatively together.”

Percussion Play will be showcasing the Grand Floor Piano at the National Recreation and Parks (NRPA) Conference to be held September 25-27, 2018 in Indianapolis, and at the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Conference to be held October 19-22, 2018 in Philadelphia.
