Lyttopia: A Benchmark Playground for Luxury Family Resorts
Located on the Greek island of Crete, the Lyttos Beach Hotel and Lyttos Mare Exclusive Beach Resort are two five‑star family destinations forming part of the S Resorts Group. Just 5 km from the town of Hersonissos, the resorts are set within expansive, colorful gardens that lead directly to a Blue Flag‑awarded sandy beach.
Designed as a destination in their own right, the resorts combine relaxation with sport and leisure, giving guests access to premium facilities that encourage families to unwind, connect, and enjoy active holiday experiences together.
Raising the Standard for Play in the Hotel Industry
With eight swimming pools, a full waterpark, shops, tennis and basketball courts, football pitches, a golf course, beach sports, and cycling routes, the resort group set out to create a playground that would not only complement these amenities but become a benchmark for hotel playground design.
To achieve this, S Resorts partnered with playground specialists and Percussion Play partner Elite Areas. The result was Lyttopia, a striking new playground that opened in October and immediately elevated expectations for play within the luxury hospitality sector.
A High‑Capacity Playground Designed for All Ages
Spanning 900 m², Lyttopia Playground features a carefully zoned layout with both small‑ and large‑scale play structures, ensuring accessibility and high simultaneous capacity for different age groups.
The wider play environment includes:
- A sheltered family seating area with bar and snack facilities
- A mini golf course
- A dedicated music garden adding sound, color, and creativity to the space
This thoughtful design allows families to spend extended time together, while also giving children the freedom to explore and play independently.
A Music Garden That Brings Families Together
At the heart of Lyttopia is the music garden, where outdoor musical instruments introduce a shared, inclusive play experience. The area features a Sunflower and Daisy Petal Drum, alongside a minor bunch of Harmony Bells and the Rainbow Cavatina Xylophone. A trio of high‑energy Djembe Drums encourages collaborative group drumming - an experience that transcends age, language, and ability. Completing the space is the Papilio Metallophone tuned to a pentatonic scale, so families and friends can play together confidently, with no wrong notes.
Designing Play That Supports Independence and Interaction
The overall design of Lyttopia allows children to play independently or alongside parents, siblings, or hotel animators. Positioned close to the waterpark and main entrance, the playground creates a strong visual and experiential first impression for arriving guests.
