Santa Rocks in Dorset's Favourite Family Attraction

Outdoor Musical Instruments For Family-Friendly Farm Park

Farmer Palmers, located in the beautiful Dorset countryside, is a family run award winning farm park where everything is designed and aimed at families with younger children. With a daily timetable of events such as, seeing the cows being milked, bottle feeding lambs, grooming ponies and cuddling guinea pigs, there’s always plenty to see and do - whatever the weather.

Opened in 1998, the park has won various awards over the past 20 years; including the NFAN National Award for Customer Service – Highly Commended (a highly competitive award against all of the farm parks in the UK), a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor and a Netmum’s Favourite award.

The Farm Park, which operates alongside the working farm, has acres of fun for little ones to explore and play. The well thought out layout and facilities include both indoor and outdoor play areas, farm animals, woodland trails and seasonal maize maze. New and interesting attractions are regularly added to ensure a wide variety of fun things on offer.

Music Lawn For Creative Play

The Palmer’s decided to include a ‘music lawn’ in Spring 2018 having seen the Percussion Play instruments at the Family Attractions Expo at the NEC the previous year. They decided upon a colourful set of Rainbow Sambas and Rainbow Cavatina xylophone.

Sandra Palmer-Snellin told us “The instruments are really popular with our target age group 8 years and under and they’ve added value to our attraction. The music lawn is a small bright, colourful and inviting area designed to encourage creativity and dynamic interaction.”

Feedback from visitors has been very positive:

  • “We love playing the xylophone! The area is so bright and inviting and there is something pretty cool about playing music in the rain.” - Jane.
  • “My two love the drums. They love the colours and the different noises. This was them choosing their favourite one, they couldn’t decide so went for all of them!” – Julia

Festive Makeover

At this time of year, the Farm Park gets a full festive makeover as Father Christmas comes to visit to spread a little Christmas spirit around. Visiting children are invited to come and meet him in his cosy Winter cabin in the Little Farmer’s Barn (tickets are in addition to normal admission).

He took a little time out of his busy schedule and treated us by playing some of his favourite Christmassy tunes on the Rainbow Cavatina and drums before getting back to work. When asked how he learnt to play so well he confided that he was entirely elf-taught.
